I am Able Because God Has The Victory

There are moments when I look at what is in front of me and wonder, Am I really able to do this? The responsibility may feel too heavy, the problem too complicated, or the road ahead too uncertain. I can quickly begin measuring the challenge against my own strength, knowledge, resources, and experience. When I do that, I often feel inadequate.

But faith reminds me that my ability is not based only on what I can accomplish by myself. I am able because God is with me. I can move forward because the victory does not begin or end with my strength. The victory belongs to God.

David understood this when he stood before Goliath. The Israelite army saw a giant who was too powerful to defeat. For forty days, Goliath stood before them, threatening and intimidating them. The trained soldiers were afraid to move. Then David arrived, not as a warrior, but as a young shepherd delivering food to his brothers.

David did not appear qualified for the battle. He had no armor, no military training, and no sword in his hand. When King Saul questioned his ability, David remembered how God had helped him protect his sheep from a lion and a bear. He knew the same God who had been faithful before would remain faithful now.

David told Goliath, “The battle is the Lord’s” (1 Samuel 17:47). That declaration changed everything. David was not claiming that he was stronger than the giant. He was declaring that Goliath was not stronger than God. His confidence was not in the stones he carried or the sling in his hand. His confidence was in the God who had already given him victory in previous battles.

Sometimes the giants before us cause us to forget the victories behind us. We forget the doors God has already opened, the prayers He has already answered, the burdens He has already helped us carry, and the difficult seasons He has already brought us through. Yet every past victory is a reminder that God has not abandoned us in the present.

Perhaps you are facing something today that makes you feel unable. You may feel unprepared, unqualified, or uncertain. The situation may be larger than anything you have faced before. But your weakness does not disqualify you from being used by God. You do not have to possess everything you need before you take the next step. David used what was already in his hand, and God supplied the victory.

Being able does not mean I have every answer. It does not mean I never feel afraid or overwhelmed. It means I trust that God’s strength will meet me where my strength ends.

I am able to keep going because God has the victory.
I am able to face what is ahead because God has the victory.
I am able to use what is in my hand because God has the victory.
I am able, not because I am powerful on my own, but because the One who walks with me is greater than anything standing before me.

The size of the challenge does not determine the outcome. The presence and power of God do. I am able because the battle belongs to Him and the victory is already in His hands.

Father, when I feel unable, remind me that I do not stand alone. Help me stop measuring my challenges by my strength and begin measuring them by Your power. Give me the courage to use what You have placed in my hand and take the next step in faith. Thank You for the victories You have already given me and for the assurance that every battle belongs to You. I am able because You are with me, and You have the victory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
