“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”
— Psalm 103:2 (NKJV)
It happened in five quiet seconds, the kind you don’t plan, the kind God slips gently into the day. I was rushing out the door, mind tangled in what needed to be done, when I stepped outside and felt the cool morning air brush against my face. For a moment, everything stopped. …. the noise, the hurry, the weight of the day.
Then this small, holy stillness.... In that breath of crisp air, I suddenly noticed the soft light rising over through the trees, the sound of a single bird greeting the morning, the gentle warmth of the mug in my hand. The air, the light, the sound, the warmth, small details I had been too busy to see.
And right there, God whispered: “Don’t forget My benefits.” Not just the big breakthroughs, but the quiet mercies, the breath in your lungs, the strength in your steps, the peace that arrives before you think to ask. That five-second moment became a doorway into gratitude, turning an ordinary morning into a reminder that God’s blessings aren’t rare; they’re relentless. Sometimes we simply need to pause long enough to recognize the daily grace that is already holding us.
Where did God give you a small, quiet blessing today that you may have overlooked?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for every blessing, both the ones that shine brightly and the ones that whisper quietly through my day. Open my eyes to see Your goodness in the ordinary moments. Teach me to pause, notice, and remember Your faithful benefits. Make my heart a place of continual gratitude.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
