Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”Luke 17:19
Ten men cried out to Jesus from a distance, bound together by sickness and longing for mercy. With one simple command, “Go”, their healing began. As they walked, their bodies were restored. Wounds closed. Strength returned. Hope rushed back into their steps. All ten were healed. But only one stopped.
When he realized what had happened, he turned around. Instead of running toward his restored life, he ran back to the One who restored it. He fell at Jesus’ feet and gave thanks. In that moment of gratitude, Jesus spoke a deeper blessing over him one of wholeness, not just healing.
This story quietly mirrors our own lives. We often pray earnestly and rejoice when God answers, yet rush forward without pausing to give thanks. But gratitude is more than good manners, it is a sacred return. It keeps our hearts aware of the Giver, not just the gift. Healing may change a situation, but gratitude transforms the soul.
Before you hurry into what God has done for you, pause. Turn back. Let thanksgiving anchor your heart. What answered prayer am I currently walking in? Have I truly returned to God with gratitude for it
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for every way You have healed, helped, and carried me. Forgive me for the times I rushed forward without returning to say thank You. Teach my heart to pause and my life to live in continual gratitude.
In Your name, Amen.
