“Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto Thy name give glory, for Thy mercy, and for Thy truth’s sake.” Psalm 115:1
The week has come and gone. There were things I had to press through. But as I sit at the edge of this week, one thought rises above everything else: To God be the glory.
It’s easy to take credit for what we managed to get through. If we slow down long enough, we begin to see there were moments this week when your strength alone would not have been enough. Times when peace showed up unexpectedly.
When things worked out that you didn’t plan. When protection covered you in ways you didn’t even recognize.
That wasn’t coincidence. That was God. Sometimes His hand is obvious.Other times, it is quiet, woven into the details of our day. He kept you.
It’s like a stage performance. From the audience, you see the actors, the movement, the story unfolding. But behind the scenes, there are lights being adjusted, cues being given, details being managed that no one in the spotlight controls.
Your week may have looked like your effort on the surface…but behind the scenes, God was ordering, arranging, and sustaining every part of it. You walked it out, but He made a way.
I think about Joseph. From the pit… to the prison… to the palace. If anyone had reason to claim strength or resilience, it was him. But when the moment came, he didn’t point to himself. He said, “God meant it for good.” (Genesis 50:20)
Joseph understood something we are still learning: When God brings you through, the glory belongs to Him. Not because you didn’t endure, but because He sustained you through what you could not control. When you recognize God’s hand in your week, gratitude becomes worship and worship gives Him the glory He deserves.
As this week comes to a close, don’t just move on to what’s next. Pause here. Look back not at what you accomplished, but at how God carried you. Through the seen and unseen. Through the expected and unexpected. Let your heart say it, not out of routine but out of recognition: To God be the glory… for all He has done.
Pearl's Prayer:
Father, As this week closes, I give You the glory. Not for some things but for all things. For the strength I didn’t know I had, for the peace that met me, and for the ways You kept me that I didn’t even see.
Remind me that every good thing comes from You. Keep my heart humble, my spirit grateful, and my eyes open to Your hand in my life. No matter what comes next, let my life reflect this truth: To You belongs all the glory.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
