Precious Enough To Be Loved

"Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows." Matthew 10:31 (KJV)

Have you ever wondered how God really sees you? Not how other people see you, or even how you see yourself, but how the Creator of the universe sees you? That question came to mind as I continued reflecting on the sacrifice Jesus made when He came to earth. I had been thinking about everything He willingly gave up and everything He endured. But then another thought entered my mind.

If Jesus loved me enough to give His life for me, what does that say about my value to Him? I began thinking about myself as a precious gem. Something special. Something treasured. Something worth caring for. Not because I have lived a perfect life. Certainly not because I have always made the right decisions. But because God, in His infinite love, considers me precious.

That realization has caused me to look at myself a little differently. Sometimes we measure our worth by what we accomplish, how others treat us, the positions we hold, or even the mistakes we've made. We can be so critical of ourselves. We remember the things we should have done differently, the words we wish we could take back, and the opportunities we may have missed. And sometimes those memories cause us to question our own value. But when I consider what Jesus did for me, I realize that my mistakes do not erase God's love.

In Matthew 10, Jesus reminded His disciples that even the smallest sparrow does not escape the Father's attention. Then He told them they were of much greater value. What an encouraging thought! The God who pays attention to the sparrows knows me. He knows my struggles, my weaknesses, my hopes, and my disappointments. And He cares.

Now, I want to be careful about something. I am not saying that I earned the sacrifice Jesus made. I could never earn salvation. Ephesians 2:8 reminds us that we are saved by grace through faith. It is God's gift. But there is a difference between earning something and being loved. I could never earn His sacrifice, but that doesn't mean I am insignificant to Him. And neither are you.

Perhaps you've spent years believing you weren't good enough. Maybe someone made you feel as though you had little value. Or perhaps you've been so disappointed in yourself that you've forgotten how deeply God loves you.

I want to encourage you to consider what Jesus has already demonstrated. His love is not measured by your accomplishments or someone else's opinion of you. You are His creation. You are seen. You are known. And you are loved. When I think about my life through that understanding, I realize I don't have to walk around feeling defeated or insignificant. I can hold my head up, not in pride, but in gratitude. I can treat myself with dignity. I can recognize my value without thinking I'm better than anyone else. And I can remember that the same Savior who loves me also loves the people around me.

Maybe that's one of the most beautiful things about discovering our worth in Christ. When we begin to see ourselves through His love, we can begin to recognize that same value in others.

Today, I want to remember this: I am not precious because I am perfect. I am precious because I belong to a God who loves me. And that changes how I see myself.

Pearl's Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that I am precious in Your sight. Sometimes I allow my mistakes, my disappointments, or the opinions of others to influence how I see myself. Help me to remember that my value is not determined by those things. Teach me to walk with dignity, humility, and gratitude, knowing that I am loved by You. And Lord, as I learn to recognize my own value, help me to see and appreciate the value You have placed in others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I am the Vessel, God is the Grace.

Great reminder “I am not precious because I am perfect. I am precious because I belong to a God who loves me”.
