“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow.” Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 (KJV)
Today, as we began our journey to the women's retreat, I found myself thinking about something that goes beyond the excitement of traveling, seeing familiar faces, and looking forward to a wonderful spiritual experience. I began thinking about us as women.
We come together with different personalities, attitudes, expectations, and ways of expressing ourselves. Some women are naturally warm and welcoming. Others are more reserved. Some are quick to speak, while others quietly observe. And sometimes, even among Christian women gathering for fellowship, our words, attitudes, and actions toward one another can be less than gracious.
Isn't that something worth thinking about? We are all traveling with the hope of receiving a blessing, yet we may not always recognize how our behavior affects the very women traveling beside us. And then another thought crossed my mind. We really don't know what each woman is bringing with her.
Some are arriving with excitement and anticipation. Others may be carrying hurt, disappointment, loneliness, unanswered prayers, or struggles they have not shared with anyone. A woman may be smiling and participating in every activity while privately hoping that God will meet her in a place she has been unable to put into words. That thought makes me want to be a little more patient, a little more understanding, and certainly more intentional about extending grace.
I think about Mary and Elizabeth in Luke 1:39–45. Mary was young, facing an uncertain future and carrying an assignment from God that others might not understand. Elizabeth was older, having experienced years of disappointment before receiving her own unexpected blessing.
Two women. Different generations. Different experiences. Yet when they came together, Elizabeth welcomed Mary with joy. She didn't compare their experiences or make the moment about herself. She recognized what God was doing in Mary's life and celebrated it. What a beautiful picture of sisterhood!
I wonder what our gatherings would look like if we approached one another with that same spirit. What if we were less concerned about who said what, who received recognition, or whose personality rubbed us the wrong way? What if we remembered that the woman sitting beside us might be praying for the very encouragement we have the opportunity to give?
Christian sisterhood does not mean we will always agree or naturally connect with everyone. It means choosing love and grace even when our differences become uncomfortable. Jesus said in John 13:35 that others would know we are His disciples by our love for one another.
As we enter this retreat, my prayer is that every woman finds what she is seeking spiritually, even if she cannot quite explain what that is. Perhaps some will find renewed faith. Others may experience healing, forgiveness, peace, or simply the assurance that God has not forgotten them. And perhaps the blessing will come through an unexpected conversation, a shared prayer, a kind gesture, or a sister who takes the time to listen.
We may have traveled together to attend a retreat, but I pray we return home having experienced something deeper than fellowship: the sacred unity of women learning to love one another through God's grace.
Am I coming only to receive a blessing, or am I also willing to become part of someone else's blessing?
Pearl's Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as we gather for this retreat, You know what each woman carries in her heart. Some are joyful, while others are hurting in ways we cannot see. Help us to be gentle with one another, patient with our differences, and generous with our grace. May every woman encounter You in a personal and meaningful way. Heal what is wounded, restore what has been lost, and let our sisterhood become a beautiful reflection of Your love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
I am the Vessel, God is the Grace.

I pray the women will receive a greater sense of the Kingdom God that is in their hearts during the retreat. Amen!
The Lord gives wisdom to the humble and when we set our focus on God and be steadfast in him we go not only to receive a blessing but to be a blessing and then we will have deferment of spirit and see our sisters need and though the Holy Spirit leading guide that sister on a path of true healing in Jesus Christ
AMEN!!!!!!!
