The Gift God Placed in You

Have you ever looked at someone else and thought, I wish I could do what they do? I know I have. There have been moments when I've watched someone speak with confidence, sing with such beauty, or lead with remarkable wisdom, and I found myself admiring the gift God had given them. But somewhere along the way, the Holy Spirit gently reminded me that while I was focused on someone else's gift, I wasn't paying enough attention to the one God had already placed in my hands.

Romans tells us that our gifts are "according to the grace that is given to us." Isn't that beautiful? My gift is an expression of God's grace. Your gift is an expression of God's grace. We don't all receive the same gifts because God never intended us to all serve in the same way.

One of my favorite examples is a man named Bezalel. When God instructed Moses to build the sanctuary, He didn't simply ask for willing workers. He specifically chose Bezalel and filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and every kind of skill to work with gold, silver, bronze, wood, and fine fabrics (Exodus 31:1–6).

Think about that for a moment. God anointed a craftsman. Bezalel wasn't called to stand before the people like Moses. He wasn't leading Israel into battle like Joshua. His ministry was building something beautiful that would honor God's presence. His hands became an act of worship.

That reminds me that not every calling stands behind a pulpit. Some people encourage. Some teach. Some organize. Some quietly pray. Some visit the sick. Some prepare meals. Some write notes that lift a discouraged heart. Others create, build, repair, mentor, or simply show kindness in ways no one else notices. Every gift matters because every gift comes from God.

I've learned that faithfulness is more important than visibility. God has never asked me to have someone else's gift. He simply asks me to faithfully use the one He entrusted to me. For me, that gift has found expression through writing, teaching, speaking, and encouraging others through Pearl's Grace. Every devotion is my way of placing what God has given me into His hands and trusting Him to reach someone I may never meet. Your gift may look completely different, but it is no less significant.

Sometimes we spend so much time asking God for another gift that we overlook the one He's already given us. What if the very thing you've been underestimating is the very thing God intends to use to bless someone today? Don't hide your gift because it seems ordinary. Don't compare it because it seems small. And don't bury it because you think someone else could do it better.

Grace has already equipped you. The world doesn't need another copy of someone else. It needs the unique reflection of Christ that only you can offer. So what gift has God placed in your hands that you've overlooked, underestimated, or left unused? This week, ask God to show you one simple way to use that gift to bless someone else.

God does not measure the size of your gift; He delights in your faithfulness to use it. When your gift is surrendered to Him, ordinary hands become instruments of extraordinary grace.

Heavenly Father, thank You for creating each of us with unique gifts that reflect Your grace. Forgive me for the times I have compared myself to others or overlooked what You have entrusted to me. Like Bezalel, help me to use my gifts with excellence, humility, and joy. Whether my service is seen by many or known only to You, may everything I do bring honor to Your name and become a blessing to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
