“But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.” Micah 7:7
There are moments in life when we find ourselves standing between fear and faith. Behind us are the things we escaped. Before us are the obstacles we cannot move. And in the middle stands uncertainty.
I imagine the Israelites at the edge of the Red Sea. Pharaoh’s army was approaching behind them, and before them stretched deep waters with no visible path forward. Freedom suddenly felt fragile. Hope felt threatened. Fear began speaking louder than faith.
Have you ever felt like that? Like you finally gathered the courage to move forward, only to face another barrier? A difficult season. Financial strain. Grief. Aging. Loneliness. A prayer that seems unanswered.
Sometimes life places us in situations where there appears to be no way through. Yet Exodus 14 reminds us that God specializes in impossible places. Moses told the people, “Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.” (Exodus 14:13)
What a difficult instruction. Stand still when anxiety says panic. Trust when nothing around you has changed. Believe before the miracle appears. But often, that is where we encounter God as Way Maker. Not simply a God who points out directions, but a God who creates pathways where none exist. The sea did not part until God spoke. The road did not appear until faith moved forward.
I think about clay in the hands of a potter. The clay does not understand the stretching, spinning, or pressure while it is being shaped. Yet every movement has purpose. The potter sees the finished vessel long before the clay understands the process.
Sometimes we feel abandoned when God is actually preparing us. Sometimes the path is not visible because God is still forming it.
Maybe that is where many of us are today, standing at our own Red Sea moments. Wondering how things will work out. Wondering if we are strong enough to keep moving. Wondering if God still sees us in the middle of uncertainty.
But the same God who parted the sea still makes ways. He makes ways through grief. Ways through disappointment. Ways through closed doors. Ways through reinvention. Ways through seasons where we feel overlooked or weary.
The pathway may not appear all at once. Sometimes God only reveals enough ground for the next faithful step. That is the walk of faith. We are not called to understand every detail ahead. We are called to trust the One who already sees the other side.
If your heart feels overwhelmed today, remember this: The obstacle before you is never greater than the God beside you. He is still making ways where there seem to be none.
What “Red Sea” are you standing before today? Have you been focusing more on the obstacle than on the God who can part it? Faith is not always seeing the whole pathway. Sometimes faith is simply trusting God enough to take the next step.
Pearls Prayer:
Father, thank You for being my Way Maker. When fear surrounds me and uncertainty clouds my vision, help me trust You even when I cannot see the pathway ahead. Strengthen my faith to stand still in confidence and move forward in obedience. Remind me that no obstacle is greater than Your power. Lead me through every difficult season, and let my life testify of Your faithfulness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I am the Vessel, God is the Grace.
