“He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” Matthew 24:13
Have you ever felt your heart tighten when the news comes on? Have you ever heard talk of war, unrest, and uncertainty and wondered just how close are we to the end? Have you ever tried to prepare your home while quietly asking yourself if your spirit is prepared too?
These are not easy conversations. They are the kind that sit heavy in the room. The kind that make you think about your children, your family, your future, and your faith all at once. We hear the rumbling of war. We see division rising. We watch people on social media tell us what to store, what to buy, and how to get ready for what may come. While wisdom has its place, I believe there is a deeper question underneath all of it: What does God want us to do in times like these?
Jesus did not hide from the reality of troubled times. In Matthew 24, He spoke plainly of wars, rumors of wars, sorrow, deception, and shaking. But what stands out to me is that He did not tell His people to live in panic. He said, “See that ye be not troubled” (Matthew 24:6).
That is a word for us. When the world feels loud, fear tries to become our teacher. Fear tells us to obsess. Fear tells us to spiral. Fear tells us that survival is only found in what we can gather with our own hands. But Scripture keeps pulling us back to something steadier. Jesus says, watch. Jesus says, pray. Jesus says, do not be deceived.
I think that may be one of the hardest parts of this season. Not just the signs themselves, but the many voices interpreting them. Everybody seems to have a message. Everybody seems to know what is coming next. But the Bible reminds us that in the last days, discernment will matter. We cannot afford to build our peace on headlines, opinions, or fear-filled predictions. We must build on the Word of God.
Yes, be wise. Yes, care for your family. Yes, use good judgment. But do not neglect the deeper preparation. Stock the house if you need to. But also stock your heart with Scripture. Fill the pantry if you must. But also fill your spirit with prayer. Make practical plans, but do not forget eternal ones.
The end-times message of the Bible is not simply, “Brace yourself.” It is, “Be ready.” Be faithful. Be prayerful. Be discerning. Be holy. Be anchored. Because at the end of the day, the safest place is not merely a well-supplied home. It is a heart that is settled in God.
So while the world keeps talking about how to prepare for what may happen, let us also remember how heaven tells us to live now: watching, praying, trusting, and staying ready for the return of Christ.
Pearl's Prayer:
Lord, when the world feels uncertain and fear rises around me, steady my heart in You. Help me not to be led by panic, but by Your Word. Teach me to live watchfully, pray faithfully, and trust You completely. Keep my mind clear, my spirit anchored, and my life ready for Your return.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
