"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)
This morning I didn't jump out of bed. Instead, I eased myself up one movement at a time. My knees reminded me of yesterday's workout and my workout in the garden. My back whispered that the years have quietly accumulated. Growing older isn't for the faint of heart. There are mornings when my body seems to speak before I do.
If I am honest, aging has brought its share of aches and pains. Some days I move a little slower, and simple tasks take a little longer. That reality isn't always easy to accept. But before I allowed my aches to shape my attitude, God gently reminded me of something far greater than what I was feeling. "Fear not, for I am with you."
Those words settled into my spirit. As I reflected on Isaiah 41:10, I noticed that God gives us five promises in a single verse. He says, I am with you. I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you. What more could I ask for?
God never promised that my body would never age. He never said there would be no weakness or limitations. What He promised was His presence. He promised His strength when mine begins to fade. He promised His help when the journey feels difficult. He promised to hold me securely in His righteous right hand. Those promises are just as meaningful on ordinary mornings as they are during life's greatest trials.
As I sat with that thought, my perspective began to change. Every ache reminds me that I have lived. Every gray hair tells the story of another season God has carried me through. Every sunrise is another gift, another opportunity to love, to serve, and to praise Him. Just as my garden produces new life with every season, God continues to produce new grace in mine.
I think of Caleb, who stood before the people at eighty-five years old and testified that God had sustained him. His confidence was not in youthful strength but in the faithfulness of the God who had kept every promise. The same God who strengthened Caleb is the same God who strengthens us today.
Looking back over my own life, I can see God's fingerprints everywhere. He has carried me through seasons of joy and sorrow, certainty and confusion, strength and weakness. Time has changed many things, but it has never changed His faithfulness.
Today, I no longer measure God's goodness by how young I feel. I measure it by how faithfully He has sustained me through every season of my life. So today, I choose gratitude over complaint. I choose praise over self-pity. I choose hope over fear. The years may have changed my body, but they have also deepened my faith. Every ache reminds me that I am growing older. Every answered prayer reminds me that God has been growing me. And if His grace has carried me this far, I have every reason to believe He will carry me through whatever tomorrow brings. That is the promise I will hold onto today.
Pearl's Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for another day and for Your faithful presence through every season of my life. When my body feels weak, remind me that Your strength never fails. Help me to greet each day with gratitude, praise, and hope, trusting that the same hand that has carried me this far will continue to uphold me. Let my life be living evidence of Your faithfulness and Your amazing grace.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
I am the Vessel, God is the Grace
