He Is So Marvelous

“The Lord has done great things for us; and we are glad.”  Psalm 126:3

Have you ever taken the time to really think about how amazing our God is? I mean, really think about it. Not just in passing. Not just when we are asking Him for something. Not just when we are in trouble and need Him to move. But have we stopped long enough to remember the wonderful things He has already done? Today, I just want to praise His name.

When I look through the Bible, I see a marvelous God. He spoke, and the world came into existence. He separated light from darkness. He placed the sun, moon, and stars in the sky. He formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life (Genesis 1–2).

He made a way through the Red Sea when the Israelites were trapped with Pharaoh’s army behind them and water in front of them (Exodus 14).  He fed them with manna from heaven when they were hungry in the wilderness (Exodus 16). He brought water from a rock when they were thirsty (Exodus 17:1–7). He guided them by a cloud by day and fire by night (Exodus 13:21–22).

He shut the mouths of lions for Daniel (Daniel 6).  He stood in the fiery furnace with the three Hebrew boys (Daniel 3).  He gave David victory over Goliath  (1 Samuel 17).  He gave Sarah a child when it seemed too late (Genesis 21:1–7).  He restored Job after great loss (Job 42:10–17).  He used Esther to help save her people (Esther 4–8).  He heard Hannah’s prayer and opened her womb (1 Samuel 1).

Then He gave us Jesus. Jesus healed the sick  (Matthew 8:14–17).  He opened blinded eyes (John 9:1–7).  He made the lame walk (Mark 2:1–12).  He raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:38–44).  He fed thousands with two fish and five loaves of bread (Matthew 14:13–21).  He calmed the storm with His words (Mark 4:35–41).  He forgave sinners (Luke 7:36–50).  He welcomed the broken. He touched the untouchable (Mark 1:40–42). He loved the rejected. He went to the cross for us (Luke 23). He died, rose again, and gave us the hope of eternal life (Luke 24:1–8). What a marvelous God.

When I bring it closer to home, I still see His hand. He has kept me. He has kept us. He has made ways we could not make for ourselves. He has opened doors that no one could close. He has protected us from dangers seen and unseen. He has carried us through sickness, grief, disappointment, confusion, and seasons we did not understand.

He has provided when resources were low. He has given peace when our hearts were heavy. He has strengthened us when we were weak. He has forgiven us when we fell short. He has covered our families. He has answered prayers. He has blocked what could have harmed us. He has turned tears into testimony.

So today, I do not want to rush past His goodness. I do not want to forget His mercy. I do not want to be so focused on what I am waiting for that I fail to praise Him for what He has already done.

Lord, You are marvelous. You are marvelous in Your power. Marvelous in Your mercy. Marvelous in Your grace. Marvelous in Your love. Marvelous in Your patience. Marvelous in Your faithfulness. You are the God who makes a way. You are the God who keeps His promises. You are the God who covers His children. You are the God who never leaves us alone.

Today, I praise Your holy name. I praise You for what You have done in the Bible. I praise You for what You have done in my life. I praise You for what You have done for us. I praise You because You are worthy.  Lord, You has done great things for us, and we are glad.

Pearl's Prayer:

Father, today we pause just to say thank You. Thank You for Your goodness, Your mercy, Your protection, Your provision, and Your love. You have done great and marvelous things. May our hearts never become too busy to praise You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
