The Places God Will Take You

Every Step, Every Season, Every Place

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."  Proverbs 3:5–6

I attended a moving-up ceremony this week. The room was filled with excitement and anticipation. Parents held up phones, trying to capture every smile and every step across the stage. Teachers watched with pride as students' names were called. Some students walked confidently. Others looked a little nervous. Yet every one of them was moving from one season into another.

As I sat there watching, I couldn't help but wonder what was going through their little minds. Were they excited about what was next? Were they afraid of the unknown? Were they wondering where life would take them? Then the theme of the ceremony echoed throughout the room: "The Places God will take you. When you trust God, He will guide you along the way."

That simple statement stayed with me long after the ceremony ended. Life is full of moving-up moments. Not all of them happen on a stage. Sometimes they happen quietly. A new job. A new House. Retirement. A ministry opportunity. A health challenge. A closed door we didn't expect. An open door we're afraid to walk through. Each new season brings us to a place we've never been before.

A few years ago, while traveling, I relied heavily on the  GPS. Sometimes it directed me onto roads I didn't recognize. Everything in me wanted to stay on the route I knew. Yet often those unfamiliar turns led exactly where I needed to go. Faith can feel the same way. We want God to show us the entire route. Instead, He often reveals only the next turn.

That reminds me of Abraham's story. In Genesis 12:1-4, God called Abraham to leave everything familiar and go to a land that He would show him. Notice what God didn't do. He didn't provide a detailed map. He didn't explain every stop along the journey. He simply said, "Go."

Abraham obeyed before he knew the destination. His faith wasn't built on knowing where he was going. It was built on trusting the One who was leading him. I imagine there were days when Abraham had questions. Days when the road ahead seemed uncertain. Yet with every step, he discovered that God's presence was more reliable than his own understanding.

Perhaps that is the lesson for all of us. The places God takes us often reveal less about the road ahead and more about our relationship with the God who walks beside us. We spend so much time asking God, "Where am I going?" while He gently reminds us, "I am with you."

The graduates I watched will travel many roads in the years ahead. So will we. Some paths will be joyful. Others will be challenging. Some will exceed our expectations. Others may test our faith. But the promise remains the same.

God does not simply point us toward a destination. He walks with us every step of the journey. And that changes everything. Because every place God leads becomes holy ground when His presence travels with us.

The safest place to be is not where the road is clear, but where God is leading.

Pearl's Prayer:

Lord, thank You for guiding our steps through every season of life. When we cannot see the road ahead, help us trust the One who leads us. Give us courage for the next step and peace for the unknown places. Remind us that wherever You lead, You are already there.

Amen.

I’m learning to trust without knowing the plan.
