"Don't Leave Home Without It"

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might." Ephesians 6:10

I look around the world, and what I see troubles my spirit. It is not only the wars and rumors of wars that disturb the heart. It is the everyday things. The small but constant signs that something in the world has shifted. The lack of kindness in ordinary conversations. The absence of respect for elders and authority. The disregard for the vulnerable, the poor, the struggling, the children who deserve protection but often receive neglect. Sometimes it feels as though love itself is becoming rare.

There are moments when the boldness of sin is startling. Things that once lived quietly in darkness now seem openly celebrated. Even the worship of darkness itself is no longer hidden. It is displayed without shame. When I see these things, I cannot help but wonder: Where is the reverence for God?

There are days when it almost feels as though the presence of the Holy Spirit is slowly withdrawing from the noise of this world. Mankind often appears overwhelmed with anger, division, and hate. But whenever my heart begins to feel heavy with that realization, the Word of God gently reminds me of something important: the chaos around us does not mean God has lost control.

Paul writes in Ephesians 6:11: "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." That instruction tells me something profound. If God tells us to put on armor, it means we are standing in the middle of a battlefield. The tension we feel in the world is not imagined. It is spiritual. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood..."  Ephesians 6:12

That truth shifts my perspective. The real battle is not against people. It is against the spiritual forces that influence hearts and minds. So before I step into the day, I remind myself that I must be dressed properly.

I fasten the belt of truth, remembering that God's Word anchors my thinking when the world becomes confusing. I place on the breastplate of righteousness, asking God to guard my heart from becoming hardened by what I see around me. I step into the shoes of peace, choosing to walk differently even when the world walks in anger. I lift the shield of faith, trusting God even when the direction of the world feels uncertain. I place the helmet of salvation over my mind, remembering that my hope is not tied to the condition of the world but to the promise of Christ. Finally, I hold tightly to the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Scripture becomes the steady voice that reminds me that darkness never has the final word.

The truth is this: the world may grow darker, but the believer does not walk defenseless. Every day, grace provides armor. When we are clothed in what God provides, we can stand firm, even in a world that often seems to be forgetting Him.

Pearl's Prayer

Lord, when the world feels heavy and sin seems to rise on every side, remind me that You have not left me unprotected. Help me to clothe myself daily in the armor You provide. Guard my heart from bitterness, my mind from fear, and my spirit from discouragement. Let Your truth anchor me, Your peace guide me, and Your Word strengthen me. Help me stand faithfully, even when the world around me changes.

Amen.
