"Grace Isn’t Given by Man—It Comes From God"

“For by Grace are ye saved through faith… it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8 (KJV)

There are days when you can feel yourself reaching.........reaching for understanding, reaching for approval, reaching for someone to “go easy” on you. Sometimes we don’t call it that. We call it wanting closure. Wanting peace. Wanting to be treated fairly. Wanting someone to finally acknowledge how hard we’ve been trying. But human grace can be unpredictable.

People can be kind today and cold tomorrow. They can applaud you in public and question you in private. They can love you and still have limits. When your heart is already tender, it’s easy to start living like grace is something you have to earn.  It feels like you have to explain yourself well enough, perform well enough, or please people enough to deserve it.  Then God interrupts that whole mindset with one steady truth: Grace is not man’s permission. Grace is God’s provision.

Mephibosheth at the King’s Table (2 Samuel 9)

Mephibosheth understood what it felt like to expect rejection. He was Saul’s grandson, living with loss, living with weakness, living in the shadow of what his family name used to mean. He wasn’t walking into the palace confident. He was walking into the palace with  caution.  But David, the king, called him by name, restored what was lost, and gave him a seat at the table. Not because Mephibosheth earned it… but because of covenant love. That’s what God’s grace looks like.

God doesn’t wait for people to validate you before He covers you. He doesn’t consult your critics before He calls you. He doesn’t need human approval to release divine favor. When God decides to be gracious, it is not dependent on who claps, who agrees, or who understands. Grace comes from the King.

Grace is not a “tip” you receive for good performance. God’s grace is not dependent on people. It comes from Heaven, steady, sufficient, and its yours. Grace is a seat at God’s table because you belong to Him.

Prayer

Father, I release the need to be approved by people in order to feel at peace. Thank You that Your grace is a gift, not something I earn. Your Grace calls me out of striving and into security. Teach me to live from Your acceptance, not human applause. I receive Your grace today.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
